GI-IS Series

Pulsed AC Current Source, up to 1MVA

The GI-IS Series pulsed AC current generators are built to deliver stable and precise performance for demanding test applications. With current ranges from 900A to 40kA and power capacity up to 300kVA, they provide reliable sinusoidal or user defined waveforms across flexible operating ranges.

The system is easy to control and supports remote interfaces, analogue amplification, and digital inputs and outputs, making it suitable for both laboratory and production environments.

A built in sequencer and timer enable accurate circuit breaker and switch testing, while continuous current operation is supported up to one third of the maximum current. This makes the series well suited for testing circuit breakers, as well as thermal and magnetic evaluation of contacts, coils, and transformers.Ā

AC Current Applications

Circuit breaker and switch testing, R&D and product validation, current amplification, automated production testing, custom waveforms, thermal/magnetic and heating tests, and instrument calibration.

  • Circuit breaker testing – precise trip-time measurement and custom test sequences.
  • R&D labs – research and development of electrical devices.
  • Final product testing – quality control and compliance verification.
  • Current amplification – using analog inputs to boost external signals.
  • Manufacturing line integration – automated testing via digital I/Os.
  • Custom waveform generation – sinusoidal or arbitrary current profiles for specialized tests.
  • Thermal and magnetic tests of switches, breakers, relays or fuses with trip-time measurements
  • Heating tests of electrical contacts
  • Tests of coils and transformers
  • Tests and calibration of measurement instruments

Intuitive Front Panel Controls

The GI-IS Series features a sealed, splash-proof membrane keypad and large backlit LCD for easy control and clear display of settings and results. Front-panel programming allows test sequences to be set and locked, with trip current and duration measured to millisecond resolution.

User-Friendly AL Manager Software

The optional GI-Software allows remote control of the GI-IS Series through various available interfaces. Test sequences can be created and saved for engineering or production use.
